Have you ever tried the Vietnamese noodle soup known as Pho (pronounced 'fur')?
It's one of the best known and loved street food dishes in Vietnam, and it's proving popular here in Chiswick too. Our customers love it even in the summer months, as it's a light, beautifully flavoured dish that you can customise to suit your tastes.
Its origins aren't completely clear, but it's thought that Pho was first eaten in the early 20th century in the north of Vietnam. After the Vietnam war, it made its way across the globe thanks to the movement of Vietnamese refugees, and you'll now even find whole restaurants around the world dedicated to this noodle broth. The key to any good Pho is the broth itself, which is why we take great care to simmer ours for hours for a good, concentrated flavour and a crystal clear soup that you can order from us as a lunch dish or a takeaway option or a light and tasty dinner.
We use beef broth as the base for our soup, priced at £8 per bowl: a broth which is cooked with flat rice noodles and vegetables along with the meat or seafood of your choice. From chicken and prawns to beef brisket and beef meatballs, it's possible to create a soup that's perfect for your own tastes - you can also add your choice of green herbs, chillies, lime juice and oil to give it the exact flavour you want.
For vegetarians, we also offer a vegetarian broth served with tofu or vegetables (or a combination of the two) to get the same fantastic Pho experience, priced at £7.75.
You'll find Pho on our takeaway, lunch and dinner menus, and it's perfect for any time of day. In the south of Vietnam it's a popular breakfast dish and is sometimes eaten for lunch, while in the north, it's eaten at any time of day. And if you want to eat it the true Vietnamese way, we encourage you to slurp from the bowl when you've finished your noodles - we want you to enjoy your meal!
