It takes a unique range of tastes and flavours that combines the perfect delicacies together, whether you prefer something sweet or something spicy. In Chiswick, we’re gradually providing a Chinese food revolution. More and more people are experiencing our authentic Chinese-inspired dishes for the first time, and are falling in love with them as a result. People often associate Asian cuisine with meat and fish, and whilst it is true that there are many delicious meat and fish dishes to choose from, there are also a number of fantastic vegan and vegetarian-friendly options as well, including one of our signature dishes: Rice with tofu and black bean sauce.
What is rice with tofu and black bean sauce? – As you might have guessed, this dish provides rice, tofu and black bean sauce. There is however, a great deal more complexity to this dish than the way it sounds, which is why it provides such wonderfully diverse tastes and textures. This dish of ours is not only a firm favourite amongst vegans and vegetarians, it is also extremely popular with meat eaters as well!
The dish contains the finest tofu, cooked to perfection, along with other fresh and fragrant vegetables including garlic, onion, ginger, black beans, peppers, and more.
How is it prepared? – Here at Caphe Guests, Chiswick, our chefs are highly skilled and highly trained to deal with all kinds of ingredients that need flavour, and tofu is no exception. If prepared incorrectly, tofu, which is basically fried bean curd, can be rubbery, tasteless, and sometimes even mushy.
However, for this traditional Chinese dish, our chef from Hong Kong prepares it in such a manner that it not only has the perfect texture, but it also provides amazingly fresh and fragrant tastes that must be sampled to be truly appreciated. Our fried tofu in our signature chilli and black bean sauce holds its shape and texture beautifully, providing the perfect balance of sweet and salty. With just a hint of spiciness in the background, this works as a “best of both world” dish type. Served with fresh boiled or fried rice, the tofu, which is served with other delicious vegetables including black beans, onions, bok choy, and peppers, is just as good, if not better, than any meat dish you could imagine!
How should it be served? – Traditionally, this dish is best served with our fragrant steamed rice, as the taste and texture of the rice will compliment the flavours coming from the tofu and sauce perfectly. Another great serving suggestion however, is to go with our coconut rice instead, which adds a whole new dimension to the dish. Whatever you enjoy from your delicacies, this traditional Chinese cuisine staple with, you can rest assured that you won’t be disappointed.
